    Westward Ho History:
The Westward Ho Casino was located between the Stardust Casino Hotel and Slots A Fun Casino at 2900 Las Vegas Blvd South.  It was open from 1963-2005.  They advertised themselves as being the largest Motel in the
world. A casino was added to the Westward Ho in 1971.  The wagon train western theme attracted many tourists from the midwest. The property was owned and operated by the Peterson Family and was sold in 1998.  At that time, it was one of the few Las Vegas casino/hotels owned and operated by a local family.  One of the most memorable attractions at the Westward Ho was the 80 ft high umbrella shaped lights in front of the property.
The Westward Ho closed on November 17, 2005 and the buildings were demolished in 2006.
Today, the property is Resorts World, a new Asian themed mega resort that opened on June 24, 2021.
    Fun Fact:
The interior of the Westward Ho was in the movie "Leaving Las Vegas".
    Fun Fact #2:
The demolition debris from the Westward Ho, know as riprap, was used by the Southern Nevada Water Authority and the Las Vegas Wash Coordination Committee to stabilize the Las Vegas Wash.
    Fun Fact #3:
One of the projects proposed for the property included a giant
Ferris wheel- but it never materialized.
